There are about 65 Million businesses that use Facebook Business Pages as part of their marketing practices, and out of 1.94 million active users, over 1 million people visit these business pages. With Facebook, changes are continuous and pages are not untouched from these changes.

How to create a Facebook business page:

Step 1: Choose a classification:

To begin, visit When you land on the page, it will show you 6 different classifications to choose from:

  • Local business or place
  • Company, Organization, or Institution
  • Brand or Product
  • Artist, Band, or Public Figure
  • Entertainment
  • Cause or Community

If you are a local business with a physical location, you’ll want to choose “Local Business or Place.” Next, just enter your address and the name of your business to get started.

Step 2: Complete basic information:

To complete the set-up of your page, you need to fill in details about your business that include:

  • Select the category that defines your business best.
  • You’ll need to describe your business in 155 characters, so keep it descriptive and to the point.
  • Upload a profile picture that describes your business.
  • Don’t forget to link you website to your Facebook page and add the page to your favourites.
  • You’ll also need to verify the presence of your business, that you are authorized to represent the business.

Step 3: Understand Admin panel:

Afterthe above two steps, the basic skeleton of your page is ready. It is not recommended to like your page now, because it will appear in the news feed of the people connected with you. At the top navigation, you’ll see an option for “Settings.” Click that. Along the left side, a vertical navigation bar with different sections should appear. There, you’ll have to focus on three core features:

  • Page info: Add additional details about your business here. This section will unveil different fields based on the classification selected in step 1.
  • Notifications: This section allows you to customize when and how you’d like to receive Page alerts.
  • Page roles: With this, you can invite other colleagues to make changes to your Pages.

Now you are all set to actually publish content on your page and invite users to grow your community. Your page will get popular over time as you publish more and more useful content. Presently, Facebook provides six different posting options:

  • Plain text status
  • Photo with caption
  • Link with caption
  • Video with caption
  • Event page
  • Location check-in

Make sure you don’t post a repetitive type of content on your page. You can also take advantage of the “Pin to Top” option to move one of your posts to the top of the page’s timeline for seven days.

Step 5: Measure your growth:

Once you start posting on your page, it’s time for you to ensure that you are making valuable decisions. Fortunately, Facebook has embedded some helpful metrics for us to take advantage of. Just click on the “Insights” option in the top navigation and you’ll see the following tabs:

  • Overview: This shows a seven day snapshot of your metrics.
  • Likes: It shows your overall fan growth and losses.
  • Reach: It highlights the raw number of people your Page is reaching every day.
  • Visits: This tab indicates where on Facebook your viewers are coming from.

Creating a Facebook page is easy, but maintaining is the thing you need to focus on.
